Outstanding Batangas Cooperatives Recognized

Batangas Province, known as rich in natural resources, culture and tradition, has once again proven to be rich in terms of exceptional cooperatives. Led by proficient and industrious Batangueños, cooperatives within the province of Batangas thrive to serve beyond the conventional standards in order to deliver remarkable outcomes that are recognized in the national level.

In the LandBank of the Philippines’ 53rd year anniversary celebration held last August 10, 2016, a special award for cooperatives named as Gawad sa Pinakatanging Kooperatiba (PITAK) special awards were bestowed to Ibaan Market Vendors and Community Multi-Purpose Cooperative (IMVCMPC) and Batangas Sugar Planters Cooperative Marketing Association (BSPCMA) for their exemplary service excellence in uplifting the living standards of many Filipinos in rural and other remote areas. Ibaan Market Vendors and Community Multi-Purpose Cooperative from the town of Ibaan won the fourth place for outstanding cooperative under the non-agri-based category. On the other hand, Batangas Sugar Planters Cooperative Marketing Association of the town of Balayan was awarded fourth place for outstanding cooperative under the agri-based category. The outstanding cooperative recognitions were presented to coop-clients of the LBP and play the role of community-based conduits in providing financial and technical support to small farmers, fishers and other sectors in the localities.

The CDA 2016 Gawad Parangal Most Outstanding Cooperative Award for the small-scale category has been won by Malalim Multi-Purpose Cooperative of Batangas City. The Gawad Parangal for Outstanding Cooperatives is an award given to cooperatives with remarkable and high impact accomplishments providing radiating benefits to the members and the communities.

Given the difficulties faced by cooperatives in order to survive and sustain operations, recognition is a moral booster and inspires them to achieve beyond the defined standards.
